Chapter 2: Mental health concerns
Introduction
It was really tough on all of us. I’ve heard people say that being able to look after a loved one at home is the most rewarding experience, and I agree. But it’s really hard, and I don’t know if anyone can fully prepare you for the emotional ups and downs we all had along the way.
When someone you care about has a life-limiting illness or
condition, they may experience some mental health concerns. They might choose not
to talk about it or not know how to express it. They may not want to
ask for help.
This chapter explores some mental health concerns in relation to advanced illness and discusses ways you can be supportive.
