Chapter 5: Grieving a death

Introduction

When he dies, there will be a different kind of grief, just as there will be a different grief when he is at the stage where he doesn't know me.

I thought I had done all of my grieving and cried all of my tears.

When the person has died from their illness, you may experience new and different aspects of your grief. You may experience a range of emotions including shock, sadness, numbness, or relief. You may feel as thought you have reached the end of the illness while at the same time you are experiencing a new wave of loss and grief. You may have thought you had done all of your grieving beforehand or that you had prepared for grief after their death and are now experiencing grief in a way differently than expected.
