Module 4

Chapter 1: How can I move through this loss?

Accepting the death

It’s hard to believe he’s gone.

Loss is one of life's harsh realities. Time flows in one direction and none of us can go back. People generally struggle with loss. We become rigid and closed to the changes necessary if we are to accept our loss, even though this resistance can hurt us.

It is common to continue making new discoveries about loss as time goes by. When we fully acknowledge the reality of death, no matter how painful, we usually start to feel better.
