I was so overwhelmed by everything and so overcome with grief that a family meeting was the last place I wanted to be. But it actually proved to be very helpful because the doctor was able to clarify a few things for me.
Family meetings that include everyone involved in care are a good way to get clarification for the patient, caregiver(s), family, and healthcare professionals about the goals of care, both for the patient and for the family.
